Come support the Devon Panel!
The Devon Panel will be having a fundraiser on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 8 am to 10 am. It will be a pancake breakfast at the Applebee's Restaurant on Trooper Road in Norristown. Members of the team will be selling tickets ($7 for adults, $5 for children). If you are interesting in purchasing tickets, please feel free to contact us.
The Devon Panel wins Fourth Place!
This past week, the Devon Panel team participated in the long-anticipated 2011 Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenge in Dallas, Texas, something we have been preparing anxiously for all year. To our pleasant surprise, we won fourth place! Check out the "Progress On Our Car" page to see the full story.
What is The Devon Panel?
The Devon Panel team is designed to allow students to directly apply the concepts learned in the classroom to a real-life scenario. Students will use critical thinking and problem solving skills to construct a solar-powered vehicle. Students who participate in this program will learn the principles of aerodynamics, electrical circuitry, and basic engineering. All of the students will come together when they demonstrate their solar-powered vehicle at the Hunt-Winston Solar Car Challenge.
Where and when is this happening?
The event will take place at the motor speedway in Dallas, Texas from July 17th to July 21st of 2011. Devon Preparatory School will be the first high school in Pennsylvania to attend such an event.
Cool, is there anyway I can help?
Yes, there are many ways for you to help. The Devon Panel has a budget of $42,000 in order to complete this project. It would be greatly appreciated if you could donate to the cause.
